233. Mee Mamak

This is 'Mee Mamak'. Do you like Mee Mamak? I loveee Mee Mamak!

I used to wonder what are the ingredients needed to make this mee. Finally, while I was in Kuching, my sister in law taught me how to cook it. She was an ex-chef of Merdeka Hotel in Kuching and had learned how to make this mee there.

One morning she cooked us 'Mee Mamak' for breakfast at my mom-in-law's house so I watched nearby to see her cooked it.

1 bombay onion (sliced)
2-3 tablespoons of blended dried red chillies

2 tablespoons of tomato sauce
2 tablespoons of oyster sauce
2 fresh tomatoes (cut)
Some sayur sawi (cut)
Some thinly cut up red meat or some fresh prawns (skin peeled off)- optional
Fried thinly sliced potatoes - optional

To cook :
1. Saute the sliced bombay onion in a pan of hot oil
2. Add the blended dried red chillies
3. Add the curry powder

5. When the meat or the fresh prawns are cooked, add in the noodles, sliced fresh tomatoes, sayur sawi in
6. Stir well

232. Coming Back

Today is Mauluddul Rasul Day, a holiday in Miri. And only today I feel I had come back to my daily routine life after coming back a 2nd time from Kuching during the Chinese New Year. Yep, I went back to Kuching again on that day, this time with my son Farouk. Oh, just for 2 nights and unfortunately all the shops were closed due to the Chinese New Year so my son and I had to be contented with the Spring and other shopping malls only ha ha...
'Never mind', I told Farouk, he can always return another time.

I'd missed my briskwalks at City Fan recently, finally I went this morning. I did briskwalked one time after coming back from Kuching. And now I go in the mornings instead of in the evenings as I used to. Five o'clock in the evenings, the weather is still so hot at this time of the year.

The weather in the morning is not only cool but gave me a relax and calm feeling as there weren't many people around.

I took some snapshots

Some girls exercising on the stones

Ha ha...I caught this man eating his breakfast near this fountain

I enjoyed my briskwalk but most of all I enjoyed coming back to my everyday routine life.

231. Masak Lemak Ikan Terubok Masin

I bought some 'Ikan Terubok' when I was in Kuching. Some I bought for 'Buah Tangan' for some friends, I just bought 2 for myself.

Surprisingly I found out the price has gone up. Two of these for RM20?

Anyway, I cooked 'Masak Lemak Ikan Terubok' when I came back.

Masak Lemak Ikan Terubok Masin

This is not a popular dish among my children especially with Noormy and Farok my son. Both of them did not favour anything 'masak lemak' and both said this fish has too many 'tulang'.

I agree. But once in a while we do crave for something we don't often eat, right?
I know hubby loves this dish, same with Aya. Myself, I eat once in a while :)

To cook,
Saute grounded ingredients like 2 or 3 fresh chillies or dried chillies, 3 red onions, 2 garlic, a bit of 'belacan' and a stick of lemon grass in hot oil.
Add a bit of turmeric powder for colour.
Add 1 packet of coconut powder mixed in water.
When boiled, add in some sliced long beans and cut brinjals
Add in the sliced 'Ikan Terubok Masin'.
Add in ajinomoto to taste
Add very little salt as the fish is already salty.

Serve hot with rice and some sambal belacan perhaps? :p

230. I Got Lucky

Ha ha...if you are wondering what that picture was all about, I got lucky and won a voucher worth RM100 at Servay TT and went to collect it when I got back from Kuching. In fact the management called me while I was in Kuching the other day.

I wasn't the only one who won, I think there 7 others who did too. The 7 persons were like me who won a voucher worth RM100 each but the luckier ones were 3
persons who won vouchers worth RM1,000, RM500 and RM300. My...imagine one can buy things and food worth RM1,000 at the supermarket!

The RM100 voucher did helped me though...as I did overspend in Kuching (I did no matter how much I want to spend as little as I could :P

So when I came back I finished the RM100 voucher buying my kitchen items.

Hmmm...let's hope I have better AMOUNT of luck the next time with the voucher :p

229. I'm Back!

I was back in Miri on the 4February last. Today is already Wednesday 10February, how time flies!
When I came back, there was so many things to do and my timetable seemed to get disrupted each time I wanted to come here to write something ha ha...
At last, finally, I am here!

I hope everyone are fine and God Bless you sweet people who keeps coming back here and never tire reading my blog :)

Going back to the 4February, our flight from Kuching to Miri ran smoothly, but, as you all know each time we use Air Asia we just have to check in at the airport at least 2 hours before departure to get our boarding pass. And that's what we did.

But coming back to Miri the atmosphere seemed different. When we were on our flight going to Kuching we were so excited, going back this time we were very anxious to be home, safe and back to our own schedule and everyday routine. It was obvious on the faces of hubby and the 2 girls. He was already talking about his work and the girls could not wait to see their small nephew Alif and talk about their own work.

It was a nice wait at the airport though. Aya & Nono invited me and hubby to their ever favourite KFC there loll...

Hubby enjoying a drama at tv3 (you can't see the tv of course) at Kuching airport KFC

Me...eating a piece of chicken :p

Aya told me not to publish this pic of Noormy and her, because she wasn't ready yet she said, but I am going to go against her wish this time, I told her 'candid' means she looks sweet to me ha ha...

It's nice to be back,

228. In Kuching

I am in Kuching!

I've just came back having breakfast with a good friend Mariam. We went to BDC area, having roti canai and a glass of hot tea in a mamak's shop. After having not met for sometime so a long conversation followed, lol...

My good friend in Kuching

I came to Kuching by plane yesterday evening, with hubby and my 2 girls, Aya & Noormy. We came to visit my mom in law and just 'see' Kuching :)

Now I am back at my mom in law's house waiting for hubby and girls to dress so we can go to the 'Spring'. The 'Spring' is quite the talkabout in Kuching at the moment. It is the latest big shopping mall.

At the 'Spring'

One pretty view at the Spring basement

After lunch we went to the oldest part of Kuching town, the 'India Street'. I like stopping to this part of the town whenever I am in Kuching because here I can get good bargain for head scarves and some cheap perfumes. And I did :)

Before going back to my mom in law's house we didn't forget to stop by at the old market to eat my favourite 'Kacang Cendol' and 'Rojak Sotong Kangkong' there.

That was 1 day spent in Kuching. We went back to my mom in law house at 7pm.
