231. Masak Lemak Ikan Terubok Masin

I bought some 'Ikan Terubok' when I was in Kuching. Some I bought for 'Buah Tangan' for some friends, I just bought 2 for myself.

Surprisingly I found out the price has gone up. Two of these for RM20?

Anyway, I cooked 'Masak Lemak Ikan Terubok' when I came back.

Masak Lemak Ikan Terubok Masin

This is not a popular dish among my children especially with Noormy and Farok my son. Both of them did not favour anything 'masak lemak' and both said this fish has too many 'tulang'.

I agree. But once in a while we do crave for something we don't often eat, right?
I know hubby loves this dish, same with Aya. Myself, I eat once in a while :)

To cook,
Saute grounded ingredients like 2 or 3 fresh chillies or dried chillies, 3 red onions, 2 garlic, a bit of 'belacan' and a stick of lemon grass in hot oil.
Add a bit of turmeric powder for colour.
Add 1 packet of coconut powder mixed in water.
When boiled, add in some sliced long beans and cut brinjals
Add in the sliced 'Ikan Terubok Masin'.
Add in ajinomoto to taste
Add very little salt as the fish is already salty.

Serve hot with rice and some sambal belacan perhaps? :p

Cheerio.

Hi Isah
Just terubuk masin + rice will do for me. Terubuk masin masak lemak is heaven! Sometimes, we can get that fish in my area, but I haven't tasted it for more than a year now. The smallest used to cost RM8 each. I'm sure its more expensive now. I've been to Kuching 3 or 4 times, the most recent trip, about 2 years back. My niece has finally been posted to Batu 4 Telupid. Salam bahagia.

Yes it is more expensive nowadays, I think :p But sometimes after not eating this fish for a while, I'd always want to buy it whenever I come to Kuching. I can find it here in Miri but it is even more expensive and since I am buying for friends when I am there so might as well I buy for me too he he... Yes! Terubuk masin masak lemak is sheer heaven, I believe you. I do hope you have the chance to come back to Kuching again one day :)
Take care & have a good day

Hi
Sorry for the late reply, it's because I didn't log into my email for quite a while. Thanks for stopping by, I did not know you sell Ikan Terubok Masin. I bought mine in Kuching market when I was in Kuching recently.
Ok, I have visited your site and now I know where to write if I need some Terubok Masin :)

Thank you
