292. Masak Lemak Cabbage

Hubby likes to 'borong' vegetables in the evening from the market. He said in the evening the vegetables are cheaper and he 'borong' (buys in bulk or large quantity) it from those Chinese vendors who are his friends.
So I cook any vegetables that he brought home. I can't choose. What I had to choose were those 2 or 3 types of vegetables that he brought home.

Yesterday evening he 'borong' a lot of cabbage.

The children doesn't like cabbage very much, so I have to find a way to cook it that will make them eat it he he....
And so I thought why don't I cook it with 'Santan' (coconut milk). And so I did.

That day on a trip to KK (Kota Kinabalu) I bought and brought back RM30 worth of Udang Kering (dried prawns). So I add some of it to my 'Masak Lemak Cabbage'

Masak Lemak Cabbage

Ingredients :-
5 Cili padi ( I wanted it hot)
3 small red onions
2 garlic
1 flat teaspoon of shrimp paste (belacan)
25 pieces of medium size dried prawns (udang kering)

Ground the first 4 ingredients until well crushed.
Wash and add in the dried prawns and lightly ground them in.
Saute all these ingredients until aromatic.
Add in 2 cups of water.
When boil, add in a packet of 'Cocolin' coconut powder (mix it well with some water first).
Add salt and ajinomoto to taste.

Eat this hot with rice, salted fish and 'Sambal Belacan'!

I was really happy my son who came back for lunch exclaimed,'Aduhh..masak lemak eh, sedap!' (which meant more or less 'delicious' LOL..

By evening my pot of 'Masak Lemak Cabbage' was not so full anymore :p

Cheerio.

Salam Isah,
I'd say, true, any masak lemak would go well with ikan kering! Cuma takut naik bp angkara si garam! I was really hoping to bring back some special dried shrimps from KK during my trip there last month. But I was disappointed that the well-known frozen sea food shop there (lupa nama) had only the poor quality stuff.
